| How do I set up my GPRS and 3G settings for my handset?
Follow these simple, step-by-step instructions.
Cell C
• Send a free SMS, containing the word “smartdata” to 084 155 9911
• You’ll receive an SMS, confirming that you’ve requested the smartdata settings, as well as any password required
• You’ll receive an SMS with your settings – save the settings
• You’re now set-up for smartdata GPRS/EDGE
MTN
• Dial *123#
• Select option 1 (phone set-up) (i.e. Answer > 1 > Send)
• Select option 3 (WAP)
• You’ll receive an SMS with your settings – save the settings
• If you’re prompted for a password, type 1234
• If any of the above steps fail, try again
• If you’re still experiencing difficulty, please call MTN on 808 (contract)/ 173 (pay-as-you-go) or visit an MTN outlet near you
Virgin Mobile
• When you insert your SIM card for the first time, you’ll receive an SMS asking if you’d like to accept the settings of Virgin Mobile
• If you reply “Yes”, your settings for MMS and WAP can be downloaded and installed on your cell phone automatically
• However, you can manually request MMS and WAP settings too
• Go to the Virgin Mobile menu, which you’ll find on the Main Menu or the Applications Menu
• Select “Virgin Mobile”
• Select “Virgin settings” and reply “Yes” when asked if you want to download them
• GPRS/3G can only be activated by the person who took out the contract
Vodacom
• Dial *111#
• Select option 5 (phone settings) (i.e. Answer > 5 > Send)
• Select option 1 to choose your cell phone make and model, or let Vodacom do it for you
• Then, just follow the prompts until your WAP settings are activated
• You’ll receive an SMS with your settings – save the settings
• If you’re prompted for a password, type 0000
• If any of the above steps fail, try again
